Ethos
Devoy Education was set up to provide high-quality advice in the education sector. Working on a limited number of projects in any given academic cycle, we aim to provide a service which is tailored to the requirements of each individual client and which draws upon many years of experience to produce evidence-based solutions.
Founder
John Devoy was a Classics Exhibitioner at Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, before reading Law at The Queen’s College, Oxford. He was also awarded a major Bar Course scholarship – a Lord Denning scholarship – and a Hardwicke scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn. John taught at Concord College (an international boarding school and one of the top A-level performers in the country), where he helped students prepare for Oxbridge Law and PPE/Economics applications.
John has spent the last eight years advising clients (private and institutional) on a variety of educational topics, especially domestic and international university admissions. He has a particular interest in developing students’ critical thinking and logical analysis skills – skills which are essential for success in pre-admission exams such as the Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT) and Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA). With his background in competitive debating and his legal advocacy training, John also enjoys helping students hone their interview techniques and argument-building abilities.
